AWB & tracking basics

Can You Track a Parcel by Mobile Number? What Works in India

Most couriers won't show a parcel for a phone number alone — for good privacy reasons. Here's what you can do instead to find your tracking details.

Quick answer In most cases you can't track a parcel by typing a mobile number into a courier's website — that would let anyone see anyone's deliveries. Instead, find the tracking number (AWB) in the shopping app, the courier's SMS or the seller's message. A few couriers let you sign in with an OTP sent to the phone number linked to the shipment.

Why couriers don't track by phone number alone

A phone number isn't secret. If any website showed every parcel linked to a number, a stranger could see where and when you receive deliveries. So couriers track shipments by AWB / tracking number — and where they do offer phone-based lookup, they first verify you with an OTP sent to that number.

Be careful Websites and apps that promise to "track any parcel by mobile number" without an OTP either can't actually do it or may be collecting your number for spam and scams. Don't enter OTPs or personal details on them. Got a "parcel" message you're unsure about? Check it with our SMS scam checker.

What works instead

Method What you need Works for
Shopping app or website Your account login Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Myntra and most shops
Courier SMS / WhatsApp / email The message on your phone Most courier shipments
Courier login with OTP Access to the phone number on the shipment Some couriers (e.g. Delhivery)
Ask the seller Order details Small sellers, Instagram or WhatsApp shops
India Post booking receipt / SMS Receipt or SMS with the article number Speed Post and other India Post articles

1. Use the shopping app

If you bought something online, the order page is the most reliable place:

  1. Open the app and go to your orders.
  2. Open the order and tap Track or Order details.
  3. Look for the courier name and a tracking ID / AWB.

Copy that number and you can track it anywhere, including on CheckMyOrder. See our shop-by-shop guides for where each app shows it.

2. Search your messages

Couriers usually send an SMS, WhatsApp message or email when a parcel is booked or out for delivery. Search your messages for the courier's name or words like "AWB", "tracking", "shipped" or "out for delivery". The tracking number is usually in the message — copy the number, rather than tapping an unknown link.

3. Sign in to the courier with an OTP

Some couriers let you see shipments sent to your number after verifying it. For example, Delhivery offers a lookup where you enter the mobile number linked to the shipment and confirm it with a one-time password. Features change, so use the courier's official website or app — you'll find each one on our courier pages, such as Delhivery.

4. Ask the seller

For orders from Instagram, WhatsApp or small online stores, the seller booked the shipment and has the courier name and AWB. Ask for both — it's a normal request.

5. India Post: keep the receipt

For Speed Post and other India Post articles, the article number is printed on the booking receipt (13 characters, like EE123456785IN). India Post also sends SMS updates for Speed Post. If you're the receiver, ask the sender to share the article number.

Once you have the number

Paste it into the CheckMyOrder tracker with Auto-detect selected. If the courier can't be identified from the number, pick it from the list — the SMS or app will tell you which courier it is. If the number shows nothing, see why a tracking number may not work.

Frequently asked questions

Can I track an India Post parcel by mobile number?

You need the article number to track it. Ask the sender for it, or check the booking receipt or SMS — then track it on India Post tracking.

Mobile number se parcel kaise track kare?

Zyaadatar couriers sirf mobile number se parcel nahi dikhate — privacy ke liye. Shopping app (Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho) mein apne number se login karke My Orders kholein, ya courier ke SMS mein tracking number (AWB) dhoondhein. Number milte hi CheckMyOrder par paste karein. Kuch couriers OTP se verify karke number par bhi dikha dete hain.

Is it safe to share my phone number with a "track by mobile number" website?

Only on the courier's or shop's official website or app. Unknown sites that promise this without an OTP are a common way to collect numbers for spam and scams.

Can I track an Amazon or Flipkart order by phone number?

Sign in to the app with your registered number — your orders and their tracking appear there. The courier's own site will need the tracking number. Step-by-step: Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho.

Someone sent me a parcel but I don't know the courier. What now?

Ask the sender for the courier name and tracking number. If you only have the number, try our tracker with Auto-detect.
